The Role
We are seeking a driven Senior SLED Account Executive to lead our State, Local, and Education (SLED) growth strategy across the Northeast. This is a highly strategic "Player-Coach" role designed for a proven hunter who knows how to navigate New England’s public sector procurement landscapes.
Your primary mission is twofold:
- Win direct contracts with New England State Agencies and Municipalities for our proprietary software and IT services.
- Secure subcontracting partnerships with Prime Contractors by strategically leveraging our diverse business certifications.
Additionally, you will play a critical executive-level role in guiding Awari Digital through the Federal WOSB certification process, paving the way for our future federal pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct SLED Sales (Capture Management): Identify, qualify, and aggressively close direct contracts with state agencies, local municipalities, and school districts across New England.
- Product & Service Positioning: Successfully pitch our core IT Staff Augmentation services alongside our specialized solutions (e.g., iFence to Boards of Education, Queue Systems to DMV/Health agencies).
- Prime Contractor Partnerships: Build strategic relationships and negotiate lucrative Teaming Agreements with large IT Prime Contractors, helping them meet their diversity spend requirements through our MBE/WBE status.
- Procurement Navigation: Actively monitor and manage bids across New England’s governmental procurement systems, mastering state-specific platforms (such as CTsource in Connecticut, COMMBUYS in Massachusetts, and Ocean State Procures in Rhode Island).
- Federal Roadmap Strategy: Partner directly with executive leadership to prepare for and secure our Federal WOSB (Women-Owned Small Business) certification, expanding our footprint into federal contracting.
- Pipeline Management: Maintain an accurate, active, and healthy pipeline of RFPs, RFIs, and unsolicited proposals across the region.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5–7+ years of experience in B2B/B2G sales, specifically targeting State & Local Government (SLED) and Education sectors within the New England region.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep, practical understanding of New England's governmental procurement processes, state contract vehicles, and compliance requirements.
- Partnership Expertise: A proven track record of securing subcontracts or Teaming Agreements with Tier 1 Prime Contractors.
- Tech-Savvy: Experience selling IT Services, Custom Software Development, or Staff Augmentation. Familiarity with AI solutions is a massive advantage.
- Strategic Mindset: Hands-on experience helping small businesses leverage minority or women-owned certifications (MBE/WBE, WOSB, 8a) as a distinct competitive sales asset across state lines.
- Communication: Exceptional presentation and proposal writing skills, capable of engaging stakeholders ranging from technical project managers to agency CIOs.
